Although this is a bit different from what I usually post, I came upon this picture on the internet and just had to share. I have read and watched a lot on the subject of the undead and vampires, and even read about this cage over graves before. However, I have never actually seen a picture of one before and found it unique.

That is so creep!y….I wanna go there right now!….Me and my family love walking through graveyards…the older the better…,thanks for the pic…btw apparently the other person buried in the adjacent grave must have died without suspicion…There’s a story there….what if we removed the cage surrounding the grave one night…thanks for inspiration …gotta put this one in my notes for future reference…:)

This is fascinating…it’s not entirely a lost custom, either. Some distant relatives of mine shocked me by bringing out a photo of their 9 year old dead son in his casket, to show it to my then seven and ten year old children. Blew my mind–I didn’t feel it was appropriate for my children, at their ages. Their son died in the 1960s. Families struggle to keep and remember the lost in ways that others can’t always understand.
Wow! That’s an amazing story. I’m not sure about photos of the deceased but I don’t know why people don’t take photographs of guests at funerals – one of few occasions when family and friends gather!
