It is over a year since Universal Pictures and Focus Features snapped up the rights to E.L. James’ bonkbuster trilogy Fifty Shades Of Grey yet fans are still waiting for casting confirmation.
April Fool’s Day sent the rumour-mill into overdrive with wild suggestions – Sheridan Smith!! Scarlett Johansson! Joseph Gordon-Levitt! Eddie Redmayne!!??!
But ever since a zealous fan mocked-up a convincing magazine cover the smart money has been on Matt Bomer…
Facts & Pictures
Matthew Staton Bomer was born on 11th October 1977. He is a 34-year-old Libran. Matt’s father is former Dallas Cowboy John Bomer.
Matt attended Klein High School (Houston) with actor Lee Pace (Pace will soon be seen as King Thranduil of Mirkwood in The Hobbit, the father of Legolas).
Matt got his big TV break in the ABC soap All My Children (2000). He has also appeared in Tru Calling, North Shore and Chuck.
Matt is probably best known for playing Neal Caffrey in White Collar (from 2009).
Matt’s big screen credits include Flightplan, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and In Time. He can currently be seen in Magic Mike.
Matt attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and graduated the same year as True Blood’s Joe Manganiello (his Magic Mike co-star).
Matt may be the best-looking gay man on the planet. His partner is Hollywood Publicist Simon Halls and he has three children; Kit (2005) and twins Walker and Henry (2009).

She had looked at the pictures but not read what it said. She thought he was good looking but said would he be able to cut it? To be honest, I don’t think anyone will be right in her mind. I am like that with Heathcliff, no-one seems to get him right.

I think we have to give people a chance. It is really important to the actors that they get it right. I can’t imagine how terrifying it must be if fans of something with a huge following think that you’ve got it wrong.
If Matt Bomer doesn’t get the lead playing Christian Grey, I for one, will be soooo disappointed. He’s perfect, eyes, body, hair, moods, oh yah!!! The book is amazing. I bought the triology and hope there will be movies of 50 Shades Darker and 50 Shades Freed, also. I’ve not read anything so captivating and I’ll miss Christian and Anastasia when I finish the trilogy.
You’ll just have to go straight back to the beginning and read them all over again
Matt Bomer is a definite, he’s been so close to big movie roles before (Superman for one) but this time he’s nailed it, he looks just right, I’m sure the movies will be a hit and the full series will be made x
