Hello Blogsprites!
I hope you are enjoying the Spring sunshine.
It seems that some of my fellow Tarot readers are not familiar with the Deviant Moon spread I tried out for my Ostara personal reading. I have been asked to include some extra details to assist their kind interpretations.
I focused on a general enquiry regarding my progress through the year relating to a new creative venture.
1. The Inquirer, Present Day ~ The Magus
2. Past Influences ~ The Six of Wands
3. Subconscious Influences ~ The King of Wands
4. Secret Desires & Wishes ~ The King of Swords
5. Hidden Forces ~ The Hierophant
6. Events Yet To Come ~ The Three of Pentacles
7. Surrounding Environment ~ Death
8. Influence Of Others ~ The Five of Wands
9. Spiritual Forces ~ The Seven of Cups
10. Final Outcome ~ The Four of Swords
I feel like I am on the right track, side-stepping conflict and heeding the strong male role-models who seem to surround me now. This is definitely a period of dramatic transition and thoughtful development. I’ve got my eyes peeled for positive collaborations.
I would be grateful for any of your thoughts and interpretations,
Love Lily xx
Hey Lily! I’m not as familiar with Tarot as I’d like to be, and I’ve never used this deck. I’d say trust your intuition on the reading if you feel a particular tug–those are usually right.

Interesting! It seems that you as an indiviual, are coming into your own power at this time as you seek to empower yourself in multiple domains, particularly in terms or your career and/or your creativity. There is a sense of change and upheaval as all of this is happening however, and there are certainly niggling gripes and minor issues as others attempt to derail, probably subconsciously as they have their own converging plans. Spiritually you might be ascending to higher realms as you negotiate your way into the next plane of space.
That’s what I’m getting anyhow, take or leave with salt or sugar 🙂

Thanks Lee! I saw much the same 🙂 This is very helpful as I’m a bit of a novice so it’s good to know I’m on the right track.
This is certainly a time of transition and I am really asserting myself career-wise and creatively. I’m owning it and won’t be swayed by others as I may have been in the past!
I also saw the possibility of a positive collaboration.
Again, thanks so much for your response xx

Hi Lily….I second Michelle’s sentiments. In my experience only the person who handled the cards and put their intention into them can accurately read them. Trust your intuition and don’t second guess yourself.
Check out my energy of the day read on twitter @victorarcturus
That’s a perfect example where I put a certain intention into that card and read it as such, but someone else could see something totally different depending on what they asked the deck for.

Thanks Arcturus. You have such a great name!

That’s a very balanced spread elementally, also there are only two Majors which shows that what you are trying to achieve is in your hands. In position four there seems some strife though, you seem to be talking yourself out of your secret desires/wishes? But as Arcturus Jones says above, trust your intuition. I am only looking over your shoulder and trying to guess what is going on.
Best wishes

Thanks Spike, I appreciate your wisdom. I have frequently sabotaged myself with self-doubt in the past but I have a new creative direction now. I feel it is a transitionary time and I am beginning to push on with a new creative project.
I am going to repost this spread as I realise not everyone is familiar with the spread. More detail required.
It’s so helpful to get some guidance on here x

Hey there. Me again. 😉 I love the Deviant Moon cards. I’m planning on picking them up this month as my “traditional” deck. Right now I’m personally using two more…I dunno, Carebear?…decks. Lucy Cavendish’s “Oracle of the Shapeshifters” and “Oracle of Shadows and Light”. I mainly picked them up because they’re illustrated by one of my favorite artists, Jasmine Beckett-Griffith, but they’ve proven to be remarkably friendly and helpful to me. As I said, they’re more positive thinking and empowering and all that hooey, but I love them anyway. 😛
However, since I intend to learn the more traditional side of things and possibly do a few “professional” readings, I need the cards people recognize…but with my own sense of style and humor. So, Deviant Moon it is! 🙂
What would you recommend to help me learn the traditonal decks and their meanings and etc? I mean, I can do them for myself, almost without knowing anything…but for other people? Not so much.

Hi KC, just picked this comment up. I refer to a lot of different books and cross reference the meanings. There are some really helpful Tarot bloggers on here too.
Mostly I rely on what I have learned over the years of mythology and psychology. I can really recommend Joseph Campbell’s The Hero With A Thousand Faces if you’ve never read it.
I know Patrick Valenza is working on a companion book for Deviant Moon which should be very useful x

Heh. I really should start a Joseph Campbell blog or something. I’ve spent most of my life with people (intelligent, educated people…psychiatric professionals, some of them!) looking at me and saying “Who?” and causing me to either just stare at them, mind blown…or start off on a spiel about him and his stuff and myth and mythos and archetypes and ideals and story and…yeah, like that. *chuckles* And here in the last month I’ve found at least 5 people who’ve recommended him to -me-…and I just giggle to myself all day. *hugs* And it’s not just writers/poets, either. My local writing group had never heard of him, my college going friends…huh?? I mean, the mans work should be…-is-…seminal to most if not all education processes.
*snorts* Sorry…that’s the spiel I was talking about. Not gonna right now. Save it for a post or something later. 😉
As for Deviant Moon, I just got my new deck yesterday…one of the awesome-nifty personalized ones…hand drawn wrapper, signature and drawings all over the box and cards and layout sheet…*swoons, totally*
Just did my own personal reading with it last night, and it was pretty accurate. Considering I only cut the ordered, sorted deck about 6 times, tried to shuffle it, dropped it and played card-pickup with it… ;( I should have written the cards down, but it was way late and I was tired so I got lazy. I’ll do it next time. 🙂
Good to hear about the book, that’ll be good. His instruction/interpretation booklet is pretty helpful. With that and my (minimum) previous knowledge of the tarot I got most of it pretty quick.
Thanks for the answer, I know how it is when comments disappear into the mist. I’m still learning how to find mine! 😉
