I always thought these were rather dark and disturbing for what – I thought, as a child – was a fairy tale. I can now see how right they are for this weird and wonderful story!

There are lots of brilliant new interpretations of Alice but I don’t think anything beats Tenniel’s originals. I didn’t like the books when I was little – I thought the talking flowers were mean!
I only really learned to understand and appreciate Alice as an adult, especially the linguistic games in the text which are inspired and silly.
I really want a go at playing the spooky Alice Xbox games but I just don’t have the time (and you can never get on the console in my house) x

I have the book with these original pictures in them. Alice in Wonderland is so inspiring, isn’t it? It weirded me out when I was younger, but I think its fascinating now

I used to be terrified of the talking flowers! I thought they were very mean to Alice.
It’s a book I really only learned to appreciate as an adult, especially all the little linguistic tricks and puzzles.
There is a stop-motion film by Jan Svankmajer which is absolutely pant-wetting! x

Alice is spooky whatever age you are. There is a stop-motion version, with stuffed animals, that is utterly pant-wetting.
