The episodic structure and super simple YA-style prose mire a book worth reading for its genius premise: pensioners battling the supernatural in UK Goth Capital, Whitby.
Magrs inventively homages all the genre classics with warmth and wit whilst Brenda and Effie disguise cracks in an episodic narrative with the sheer force of their personalities. Two great roles for Dames Judi Dench and Helen Mirren perhaps 🙂
A silly, frothy yarn perfect for Sunday tea time telly.
I like the photos a lot. Thank you for the description and amazing photos.

I love that portrait by Tom Bagshaw. It looks like The Bride did a real life portrait sitting for that one. I don’t know if I will get around to reading this one but it sounds interesting.

It’s fun and quite light. I really enjoyed the main characters and I know the town, Whitby, very well. There are sequels but I haven’t read them yet. Glad you like the art, there are some great versions of classic monsters out there. xx
