The last image is of the first edition. I researched this several years ago for my sons 13th birthday and located a copy from a bookstore in England. Was fun to track it down and locate all the binding and print identifiers.
We can’t wait for the Hobbit!

Imax 3D tickets booked – very excited.
I love that original cover, whenever I think of the Silmarillion it’s always the image that springs to mind 🙂

Ahh, the Silmarillion. I’ve never managed to get all the way through the Rings, but have read the Silmarillion twice. Probably his best Middle Earth work and probably the least acknowledged. Nice little review.

Thank you xx I absolutely agree. Maybe I should start some kind of Silmarillion appreciation campaign 🙂

For me it is just the other way around. I have started reading The Silmarillion six time, and never made it through. The Lord of the Rings on the other hand, I read at least ten times. If not more.
So you are saying I should give The Silmarillion another try?
