It took seven months and approximately 40,000 Lego bricks for Romanian artist Mihai Marius Mihu to create The Nine Circles Of Hell from the Literary Classic Dante’s Divine Comedy.
Where will you end up?

I heard that Dante first worked in Lego, before turning to poetry for financial reasons.

It was the sensible choice. He had to whittle each brick himself.

Has it inspired you to re-create it with cross-stitch?

I hadn’t even thought of that, but I am very, very tempted. That would be an epic project.

So ridiculously good! I might have to try and unearth my legos and see what kind of madness I can come up with now that my interests have expanded beyond cars and flying things. I could create the Dark Tower, with the Red King’s glowing eyes perched on a balcony and Roland racing up the steps… I could create all the trials Ulysses faced on his journey home… I could create the various points of interest from George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Fire and Ice Series…”

Best get started. I shall expect photographs of each sequence to be published online by the end of the month 😉 x

Oh my gosh!!! Um, um, um… The end of the month? I don’t even have my legos with me anymore. They are probably buried in the attic at my parents’ house… and while I’m sure they will be perfectly happy to get rid of them, I don’t think there is anyway I could get them before the end of the month! I’m going to need a bit more time. What kind of extension can you grant me?

Funnily enough I have just discovered that the artist who constructed the Circles of Hell has also made various scenes from Greek Mythology.
I might have to get around to posting them sometime. 🙂

You can always watch the movie “Seven” or one of the other films on the same theme.

Now a Lego recreation of all the key scenes from Seven would be a real challenge! 😉
