     Hello Blogsprites,

It’s a little later than promised – so much to post about this month! – but here is my own personal Tarot reading offering insight into general trends from September through to the end of October (Samhain in the Celtic calendar).

Do feel free to offer your comments, no experience required 🙂

1.  The Inquirer In The Present ~ The Knight Of Wands.

In my previous spread for Lughnasadh The Ten Of Swords appeared in the first position depicting an unhappy soul trapped in a box of swords.  I am – for want of a better expression – clearly out of my box!  The Knight stands at a crossroad.  He can be gullible and prone to hastiness.  He is brandishing a brilliant idea but has no idea where to go or what to do with it.

2.  Past Influences ~ The Four Of Wands.

Work and domestic partnerships have dominated since Midsummer.  Stability is important but sometimes stifling.  The Knight Of Wands suggests it is time for a (cautious) breakthrough adventure.

Cards 3,4 and 5 represent the “inner” portion of the spread; pertaining to personal thoughts and feelings.

3.  Subconscious Influences ~ The Seven Of Pentacles.

At Midsummer this card appeared in position 7 – The Surrounding Environment.  This tells me I am powerfully influenced by external circumstances, perhaps too much.  The Seven represents traditional feminine wants and needs, the virtue of patience and the comfort promised by practical and material success.

4.  Secret Wishes & Desires ~ The Two Of Pentacles.

The desire to be an effortless multi-tasker!  Pentacles frequently dominate the 3 and 4 positions in my spreads; a constant reminder that I can get “stuck-in-the-mud” with earthy practical issues whilst harbouring the potential to turn myself into a piggy bank!  (Would someone give me a shake or fetch a hammer, please?)

5.  Hidden Forces ~ Temperance.

This Major Arcana card feels like a blessing!  If The Two Of Pentacles (4) represents a struggle for balance in the mundane world then Temperance represents enlightenment through achieving balance in a metaphysical sense.  Temperance takes all the elements of a life; home, family, work, friends, romance, dreams, etc. and creates a potent chemical reaction by re-combining them for a better result.  Harmony through endeavour is on my side.

6.  Events To Come ~ The Six Of Cups.

This card appeared in exactly the same position in my last spread!  It represents a “blast from the past” and it would seem to refer to a very specific joyous event.

Cards 7,8 and 9 represent the “external” portion of the spread; pertaining to the world about me.

7.  The Surrounding Environment ~ The Magician.

Balance is a recurring theme throughout this reading.  The Magician is discovering how to utilise his skills to effect his environment in a positive way.

He must learn to see past the illusions of negative influence and there is a warning here not to allow external circumstances to crush inner serenity.

8.  The Influence Of Others ~  The Eight Of Pentacles.

This card might be called “The Apprentice” (The Magician is a kind of apprentice too!)  I have definitely begun a new and exciting project but I could benefit greatly from the right mentors, guides and teachers.

9.  Spiritual Forces ~ Death.

I have a very healthy relationship with Death.  In my last reading Death was my Final Outcome (position 10) the transformation that allowed me to break out of that box (see above 1.  The Knight Of Wands).  The power to maintain and continue this transformation now surrounds me alongside that other great Force: Temperance.  The Magician and the apprentice nearby suggest the beginnings of radical change through hard work.

10.  The Final Outcome ~ The Hierophant (drawn upside down).

Another Major Arcana card hammers home that October is an important time for me.  Death and The Hierophant side-by-side represent a profound transformation of beliefs and the opportunity to be truly unorthodox.

Undergoing trials with temperance leads to wisdom and balance.  We must not shun or fear change because it is new and hard.

Professionals, amateurs and curious beginners are welcome to add their thoughts and comments on this 1st August 2012 spread asking for general insights until the Autumnal Equinox.

Overview (start middle left and count anti-clockwise)

1.  The Inquirer/The Present ~ The Ten Of Swords.  Invasion of security/privacy.  The scars we earn enable us to provide wise counsel.

2.  Past Influences ~ The Emperor.  Mixed aspects of secular power and material/practical concerns.

3.  Subconcious Influences  ~ The Eight Of Cups.  Follow your heart.  The ongoing quest for emotional fulfillment.

4.  Secret Desire/Wishes ~ The Three Of Wands.  The growth of an idea.

5.  Hidden Forces ~ The Three Of Swords.  Pain/loss/destruction can be a source of strength.

6.  Events To Come ~ The Six Of Cups.  A trip down Memory Lane.

7.  Surrounding Environment ~ The Seven Of Pentacles.  Patience and hard work.

8.  The Influence Of Others ~ The Ace Of Cups.  Pleasure and inspiration.

9.  Spiritual Forces ~ The Fool.  A fresh start with equal joy and danger.

10.  Final Outcome ~ Death.  Unexpected change and self-resurrection.

Wow.  The grouping of Death (Major Arcana) flanked by The Fool (Major Arcana) and The Ten of Swords dominates this spread.  Death and The Ten side-by-side signify ferocious – even violent – upheaval, with The Fool promising an absolute fresh start.  Rebirth is painful, but necessary to break out of that box in position 1!

The Emperor (2) has been oppressive instead of benign leading to tangible entrapment (1).  The past couple of months have belonged to corrupt words and secular desires instead of action.

Inside (3 and 4) is an emotional drive to follow an inspirational idea.  The Eight Of Cups (3) the card that represents this site and it’s author, appeared in position 10 in May.  The true self should always be the ultimate outcome yet here she is diminished.  The seed of an idea, already planted (4) is the key to her release.  The Eight is constantly questing for that one fulfilling cup, held perhaps by The Ace – representing the influence of generous and positive “others” in position 8.

Self-inflicted pain can be debilitating but The Three Of Swords (5) remains stable on her three legs, reminding us that scars can mean strength.  The Fool (9) reiterates that we should travel light and jettison the painful baggage that no longer serves us.

A nostalgic event, possibly celebratory marks the shift from present to future (6).  What follow is a period of hard-work, demanding patience.  The Seven Of Pentacles (7) shows a figure waiting for the seed she has planted to grow to fruitfulness – perhaps the seed planted by The Three Of Wands in position 4!

The Ace of Cups casts her inspirational light over the coming weeks.  This spread is full of little hints to follow the heart, trust one’s instincts and look for support in the metaphysical rather than the secular realm.

Then there is Death and The Fool,  the surest sign of a cataclysmic new beginning.  It’s going to be big.  It’s going to be dramatic, but it is going to be for the best.

     Hello Blogsprites!

I hope you are enjoying the Spring sunshine.

It seems that some of my fellow Tarot readers are not familiar with the Deviant Moon spread I tried out for my Ostara personal reading.  I have been asked to include some extra details to assist their kind interpretations.

I focused on a general enquiry regarding my progress through the year relating to a new creative venture.

     1.  The Inquirer, Present Day ~ The Magus

     2.  Past Influences ~ The Six of Wands

     3.  Subconscious Influences ~ The King of Wands

     4.  Secret Desires & Wishes ~ The King of Swords

     5.  Hidden Forces ~ The Hierophant

     6.  Events Yet To Come ~ The Three of Pentacles

     7.  Surrounding Environment ~ Death

     8.   Influence Of Others ~ The Five of Wands

     9.  Spiritual Forces ~ The Seven of Cups

     10.  Final Outcome ~ The Four of Swords

I feel like I am on the right track, side-stepping conflict and heeding the strong male role-models who seem to surround me now.  This is definitely a period of dramatic transition and thoughtful development.  I’ve got my eyes peeled for positive collaborations.

I would be grateful for any of your thoughts and interpretations,

     Love Lily xx
